Johnson County Audit By: Charlotte O’Hara, Johnson County 3rd District CommissionerThis does not reflect the majority viewpoint of the JoCo BOCC |
My head is still spinning from the Johnson County Audit report, on which I sent out an email recently. But I have to report I…MADE…A…MISTAKE!!! I had read that the percentage of invoices received by the county without purchase orders was 20%. Nope, it was and is 80%!!!!!! I caught my error when I read the Sentinel article’s 80% statistic. I called the Sentinel reporter, Patrick Richardson, telling him he had made and error. He then read it directly from the Johnson County Audit report… “about 80% of invoices received have no purchase order”. Here is the link to the Sentinel article: https://sentinelksmo.org/johnson-county-audit-purchasing-controls/ No one cares, at least at the county, except lonely, out of touch, looking only for a sound bite me (according to Chairman Mike Kelly). We need a forensic audit to determine the damage done because of lax or nonexistent financial controls. But that action appears to only be possible by a vote of the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners. Well, that is a likely as ice tea in Hell. But I will try. So, onto Public Safety with another fine kettle of fish on the horizon. November 5th it is quite possible that Johnson County will elect a Democrat for Sheriff, Prairie Village Police Chief, who is endorsed by a gun control grassroots organization, Moms Demand Action. They are affiliated with “Everytown” whose 990 filing for 2022 showed over $65 million raised to elect “Soros type”, left leaning officials. Gun Control, anyone? And then, naturally there is Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which I call Division, Exclusion and Inequality, Moms Demand Action website states: “continuously striving to improve DEI efforts and applying a racial equity lens to assess proposed policies….to mitigate….longstanding systemic inequities.” Soros type of rhetoric backing the Prairie Village Chief of Police for Sheriff…..Me thinks I smell a rat!!! Just as a reminder, Chairman Mike Kelly has formed a Political Action Committee, Amber Waves, on which are stated this election cycle targets: the BOCC, ME, the DA, Steve Howe and the Sheriff, Doug Bedford. I’m thrilled that the Democrat, Chairman of the Johnson County non-partisan BOCC is soooo non-partisan. The gig is up, Mike Kelly and company are out to WOKE UP Johnson County. Here is the BOCC’s policy statement for 2023-2024: ”building a healthy and safe community for all, doing so through the lens of sustainability and diversity, equity and inclusion.” Amazing how similar our policy statement is so similar to Moms Demand Action’s statement. I support public safety, I back the Blue and the way to support the Blue let people know the Democrat is supported by leftist groups and the Republican is supported by the law enforcement community. We law and order folks MUST educate ourselves as to which candidate will continue the long tradition of protecting the residents of Johnson County from the bad guys. FYI signs in my yard: O’Hara, Howe and Bedford the three Rs. See you at the polls November 5th and remember, go to the BOTTOM of the BALLOT!!! |
